UMS Occupational Safety and Health Management Policy

Universiti Malaysia Sabah is committed in ensuring the safety, health and welfare of its employees and other persons who might be affected by teaching and learning activities, research and other operations within its jurisdiction in line with the Occupational Safety and Health Act as well as other laws, regulations and guidelines that are currently enforced.

To ensure the success of this policy, UMS strives to implement and continually improve the following:

• 1. To provide sufficient resources and training to increase awareness and competency among employees to work safely and healthy under normal and emergency conditions.
• 2. To carry out investigation, improvement and preventive actions on accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning and occupational disease, and report to the relevant authority.
• 3. To continuously inculcate a safe and healthy work system through consultation and participation from employees, workers’ representatives, students, contractors and relevant stakeholders based upon understanding (comprehension/interpretation), responsibility and self-regulation.
